Eligibility Audits

  • Many group health plan sponsors in the U.S. have operated on the "honor system" in managing dependent eligibility. As employers begin more closely to examine their covered health plan populations, they typically are finding that 4% to 8% of covered individuals are ineligible for group health plan benefits, regardless of the industry, geography, or size of the particular employer.
  • Dependent Eligibility Verification Audit Services (DEVAS) can significantly reduce costs attributable to coverage of ineligible dependents. We have found that employers can achieve savings of 2% to 10% in health plan costs by removing ineligible dependents.
  • Once eligibility is determined and confirmed, our system can request certification, when dependents are being added, to insure that only eligible dependents are enrolled on an ongoing basis.
